Working for a global manufacturer of high value and bespoke systems for the Marine, Truck and Industrial markets, you will be a key member of the Design and Development team and will work with the product design teams on new product development and improvements to existing products including the testing and evaluation of performance data. Commutable from: Ramsgate, Whitstable, Canterbury, Kent Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 p.a Benefits Flexible Working Hours Suitable for: Project Engineer, Design Engineer, R&D Engineer, Development Engineer The Role Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the R&D Engineer will be working on a mix of existing product development and brand new customer project NPD. The duties of the role will include; Develops high quality test programs for life cycle validation to ensure compliance with International standards for pressure equipment in order to support the development of reliable, competitive company products. Coordinate equipment failure investigation using the 8D process. Interface with sales, marketing, distribution and customers to resolve warranty or other product problems and to feedback solutions into the new designs of those products. Evaluate collected data for accuracy and determines the extent of further testing. Maintain up-to-date testing and instrumentation capability including data acquisition and computer analysis. Utilise computer aided engineering, analytical, and sophisticated instrumentation technology to assist in the development of company products. Maintain professional technical competence in fields of engineering science. Design new and/or re-designs existing product line. Produce designs, complex layouts, assemblies, detail parts drawings and generates associated bills of material, ensuring designs support cost effectiveness. Follow all required International standards/guidelines as required regarding design and production of new/revised products. Assists manufacturing and quality departments in correcting any problems encountered in the machine shop or on the assembly floor. Develop and maintain relationships with key universities involved in research and leverage research findings and trends from university researchers. Provide clear, concise, and precise verbal and written communications. Writes reports for timely, accurate, comprehensive, and graphic content of technical information. The Person You will be educated to HND or Degree / Masters level with a proven background in a design / development / project based role and you will have a strong mix of the following background and experience; A solid and proven mechanical / electrical / mechatronics understanding and able to leverage key engineering principles to solve problems and engineer products that meet customer bespoke specifications 5 years engineering experience in industrial products, including design / development / R&D / test experience Demonstrated ability in developing smart technology products Experience building relationships and interfacing with universities / research organisations Ability to interface with staff at all levels in other departments i.e. Procurement, Manufacturing, Shipping, Sales & Marketing, as well as with customers. Proficient in CAD (AutoCAD / Inventor) and Microsoft office software programs necessary for position and any exposure to CAE / FEA software / analysis would be highly advantageous (ANSYS) PID programming a major plus but not essential This role offers an outstanding opportunity to join a leading global manufacturing business and offers outstanding career development within a truly international environment.
